Sister Cities Trip to Torun 
October 19-26, 2008

In October a group of twenty-seven Philadelphians had a great opportunity to visit Torun, Philadelphia’s  Polish Sister City. During a busy week, they visited Torun, Gdansk, Warsaw, and met with Lech Walesa, a former President of Poland and the Nobel  Peace Prize recipient. While in Warsaw, they had a private tour of Sejm, the Polish Parliament’s Upper House, and the Warsaw Rising Museum. For many Philadelphians it was a first-time overseas experience, and for everybody an unforgettable opportunity to see how people live, work, and spend their free time 5171 miles (or 8321 km) away from Philly.

Everybody was thrilled by the detail and efforts put in organizing this program. We cannot thank Torun organizers enough!

We received friendly feedback from the students participating in the project and look forward to a reciprocal visit of Torun students in October 2009! They have been invited to visit Philadelphia region by the Swenson Arts and Technology High School.
