THE GLOBAL INTERDEPENDENCE CENTER, based at Penn's International House, is a nonprofit that holds programs to promote "free international trade, monetary transparency, and open dialogue on the challenges and opportunities posed by increasing interdependence." It also "facilitates networking to expand international trade and investment, and undertakes advocacy of a globally-conscious outlook while providing a forum for the communication of the divergent perspectives."
THE PROJECT FOR GLOBAL COMMUNICATIONS STUDIES was initiated in 2004 by the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania. It draws on various disciplines (law, political science, and international relations among others) to explore public policy issues and "the way media and globalization intersect with the changing nature of states." Annenberg is currently working with the Programme in Comparative Media Law and Policy at the University of Oxford, Center for Media and Communication Studies at the Central European University, and Communication University of China and is developing projects in Russia, China and India.
THE UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA POLITICAL SCIENCE DEPARTMENT has a professor who has written on the effects of war on the globalized economy, and U.S. foreign policy alternatives.
