THE ALBERT M. GREENFIELD INTERCULTURAL CENTER, established in 1984, works "raise awareness of the rich traditions and diversity within the Penn community while working to build a strong intercultural community at Penn." It offers courses and cosponsors speakers, workshops, and cultural programs such as the annual Unity Week and the Celebration of Cultures festival.

 

THE FUND FOR AN OPEN SOCIETY says it is is "America's only national nonprofit whose sole purpose is working to promote thriving racially and ethnically inclusive communities." It does this through conferences, "community conversations," and distribution of its literature.

 

WOODROCK INC. works to promote interracial, interethnic and intercultural harmony among youth. Programs include leadership development, youth advocacy, community involvement and wilderness training. It has a training center that provides year-round human relations programs.

 

THE CENTER FOR LESBIAN AND GAY CIVIL RIGHTS says its mission is to advocate equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals in Pennsylvania through direct legal services, education and policy reform. Founded in 1996, it says it is the only organization in Pennsylvania offering direct legal services for the LGBT community and home to the country's only law student clinic dedicated to LGBT issues.

 

THE INTERFAITH CENTER OF GREATER PHILADELPHIA promotes broad dialogue, education and immersion experiences. It offers models for interfaith dialogue and strategies for defusing inter-religious tension.

 

THE ASIAN ARTS INITIATIVE is a community center for artists, writers, actors, musicians and dancers. It holds gallery exhibitions of work "that defines a new Asian American aesthetic." It also holds youth arts workshops and training for Asian artists to become educators.

 

PROJECT VOICE is a new initiative sponsored by the American Friends Service Committee. Its purpose is to strengthen the voices of immigrant-led organizations in setting the national agenda for immigration policy and immigrants' rights. Project Voice combines local and national organizing, education, and outreach campaigns to achieve a strategic impact on key immigration and refugee issues, including legalization, abuse of authority, community relations, workers' rights, and other human rights issues.

 

THE NATIONAL LIBERTY MUSEUM is a small, privately run museum whose exhibits and interactive displays are "dedicated to combatting violence and bigotry in America by celebrating our nation's heritage of freedom and reaffirming the balance between rights and responsibilities which is the cornerstone of democracy."

 

THE WILLIAM WAY LESBIAN, GAY, BISEXUAL AND TRANSGENDER COMMUNITY CENTER houses support groups, information referral and other programs to promote mental and physical health and well-being for sexual and gender minorities. It says it does public advocacy for "a positive sense of self-acceptance and appreciation of these communities and their diversity." The center features a gallery, a library and reading room, a speakers bureau and various community workshops.

 

TEMPLE AND RUTGERS-CAMDEN LAW SCHOOLS both have faculty specializing

in law and sexual orientation.
